ABOUT OUR WORK
We’re a curious team studying neuroimmune cells, namely microglia, and how these cells are our friends — and sometimes our enemies — throughout our lifespan.
Microglia are amazing cells in our brains that serve us in so many ways. We’re pushing the boundaries of tech and biology, trying to find unique ways to understand how these cells play so many integral functions in the brain.
We study the cell biology of how microglia move, how they make decisions, and how they adapt to the needs of a growing and aging brain. We’re using new technology (including custom-built microscopes!) to better understand the dynamic behaviors of microglia in during both normal aging and disease. This will allow us to find new ways to keep our brains healthy as we age and during disease (like Alzheimer’s) and trauma (like TBI).
